Prachtig bord "Blue Bird". Spode England. Wit porselein met motief in kobaltblauw, geel en grijsgroen. Diameter ca. 22 cm. Op achterzijde staat: Spode England S3274 blue bird from a Spode design C.1838 H 119. Dit patroon is van 1958-1990 geproduceerd.
In the 1950s Han Fuchs, the son of the proprietor of Fuchs Greven, the specialist retail shop in Dusseldorf, developed a new colouring whilst he was on a three month stay at the Spode manufactory. The new colouring used a rich ultramarine blue, rich yellow and a subtle green after the style of traditional Dutch tin-glazed ware. It is this version which was named Blue Bird and produced on the Marlborough shape. The design originates from a pattern dating from about 1838.
